Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror has been UNESCO World Heritage since 2004. A demanding 35 km MTB route through preserved high-mountain landscape.
Declared UNESCO World Heritage in 2004, Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror is Andorra's only cultural landscape with this recognition. 4,247 hectares of pristine high-mountain transhumance landscape are protected.
Start from Escaldes-Engordany on the Madriu trail. The first kilometres climb through black pine forest to Entremesaigües (1,800 m). From there the singletrack turns technical through alpine pasture to Pla de l'Ingla. The final climb to Collada de la Maiana (2,520 m) offers panoramic views.
Being a UNESCO zone, maximum respect is required: stay on marked trail, leave no trace, yield to hikers, respect wildlife. Some sections are bike-restricted (clearly signposted).
We recommend an MTB or E-MTB with 140+ mm travel. See "Bike recommendations" above.
Between 4h00-6h00 depending on level and pace. E-bike shaves 30-45 min vs regular times.
No, this route needs prior experience (hard difficulty). Consider softer routes like La Rabassa.
